On Tuesday, 16 April 2019, a delegation from Trent, Chiara Lubich’s birthplace, visited the International Centre of the Focolare Movement in Rocca di Papa. Focolare President, Maria Voce, and Co-President, Jésus Moran, together with the General Council welcomed the large delegation composed of Maurizio Fugatti, President of the Autonomous Province of Trent, Alessandro Andreatta, the Mayor of Trent, Roberto Pradel, President of the Primiero Community, Giuseppe Ferrandi, Director of the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation, and Maurizio Gentilini, archivist and historian at the National Council of Research and author of a biography on Chiara Lubich to be released in 2020. Also present were the mayors of the Italian municipalities of Rocca di Papa, Frascati, Grottaferrata and Castel Gandolfo.
The celebrations for the centenary of Chiara Lubich's birth will kick-start on 7 December 2019 with the inauguration of the multimedia exhibition entitled “Chiara Lubich - City of the World” promoted by the Chiara Lubich Centre and the Trentino Historical Museum Foundation. The exhibition will be hosted at the Piedicastello Galleries.
The purpose of the visit by the delegation was to strengthen the bond of friendship and to increase collaboration between the city of Trent, and the Trentino community, and the Focolare Movement, who are joint promoters of numerous centenary initiatives which will take place next year in the city and in the Primiero valley, as well as in many cities around the world. “We would like as many people as possible to get to know Chiara Lubich, her thoughts as well as her spirituality, her work, her role as a tireless advocate of a culture of unity and solidarity among peoples ", explained Alba Sgariglia, co-Director of the Chiara Lubich Centre.
