The Will of God

CHIARA LUBICH

The Will of God

Edited by Lucia Abignente

Right from its beginning, the Will of God had a central place in the charism of unity, lived out as our response of love to God. Chiara Lubich frequently spoke and wrote on this theme throughout the years, proposing it as the way to holiness for all, to be lived out in every present moment of our life.

In the northern Italian city of Trent, Prepositura Street is located close to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where the Council of the counter-Reform took place: there, in 1920, a little girl by the name of Silvia Lubich was born, later to become the beloved Chiara, foundress of the Focolare Movement that has now spread worldwide.

Going to the roots of a new spirituality Print E-mail

Letters from the early days

libro_lettere-primi-tempiTrent 1943-1949. Years of war and of post-conflict, of reconstruction. In the silence of this historic city in northern Italy began the “great adventure” of Chiara Lubich, marked by a singular eruption of the Spirit, as well as a faithful response. It was an adventure that would bring the birth of the Focolare Movement and the spirituality of unity that animates it.

A journey of prayer with Chiara Lubich Print E-mail
libro_gillet_preghiera

If someone out of impatience neglects the presence of God in their soul  – even if they may seem to have fraternal charity – it is a frivolous, light, superficial and dangerous charity because it is not built on Rock: it is therefore not charity.

Ho trovato l’amore is a book just released in Italian by Città Nuova Publishing House, following the French edition of “Prier 15 jours avec Chiara Lubich.”  The author, Florence Gillet, a theologian, has been part of Chiara Lubich’s personal secretariat since 1998.

Dio ti ama immensamente

Chiara Lubich: Dio ti ama immensamente - pensieri scelti su Dio Amore

Quanto desidererei ora averti accanto
e parlarti, parlarti.

First book edited by the Chiara Lubich Center Print E-mail

Chiara simply

libro_chiara-semplicementeBy T. Klann, M. Pochet and M. Vandeleene, was released by the Città Nuova Publishing House. A book of photos that recounts the 88-year life of the foundress of the Focolare Movement: it is the first work edited by the Chiara Lubich Center.

In addition, it contains largely unpublished photos which show Chiara as very human and approachable, without the diaphragm of microphones, cameras and stages. They show her in spontaneous attitudes, in different moments, in the simple depth of her relationships. The photos are captioned by comments from people with her in those moments, often allowing us to step into the intimacy of her thoughts, actions and soul.

The Chiara Lubich Center is born Print E-mail

Safeguarding the family “patrimony”

Centro Chiara LubichWhen Chiara left us, all of us who had known her felt her very even closer: in Rome and in Rocca di Papa, as in Brazil, the Philippines, Africa and Australia.

And we felt compelled to take in hand the "baton" of the relay she had launched for universal fraternity among all people, to live with greater commitment in her footsteps.

The patrimony that she left us in the arch of 88 years is invaluable. It is now our task to collect , order and catalogue it, in order to share it with future generations, scholars and everyone.

This is why the idea of a Center in her name was born.  In July 2008, the General Assembly of the Focolare Movement approved the project and entrusted it to Eli Folonari.
